Rain in Reading. Cold rain. There were some sludgy bits in it first thing this morning, & then it was just rain. Sometimes it has stopped for several successive seconds, but mostly it has just fluctuated in intensity.

A dank dark drizzly & chilly day.

20 minutes ago I set off for a walk through the fields. From my south-facing front door it looked gloriously sunny. As soon as I saw the big black clouds being blown from the north I scurried back indoors. There's now sleet falling. Heavily.

On my way back from Cardiff I went through a light snowstorm, a field-whitening hail storm and a full-on blizzard.

Then the sun came out.

Apparently we did have a little snow in South Ken sometime this afternoon. Our technician goes out onto our balcony for a fag break every so often, and noticed it. It was clearly not quite in the blizzard category.

Set of from home at 1430 in 6 degrees and sunlight. Arrived at my daughter's school at 1530 in 1 degree and loads of wet snow. Got back home to 6 degrees and sun again.

Must be very localised, as there has been a complete lack of SNO south of the A27.

Indeed, I was way up north - my daughter's school is in the Downs not far from Petersfield.

Once I was back south of the Portsdown Hill, Wickham line, it was back to the usual warm microclimate.

A thin layer in Croydon, until the cars wear it away from the roads.

It looks quite pretty, but Talisker isn't impressed, which I guess is understandable!
