I can't imagine he's got much to send; he's maybe 8 miles from here and I have none.
There was a thick frost here earlier.

Shall I just quote my previous posts from every previous winter?

It's been snowing here for three days.  It's about four inches deep in the back garden now.

A few cm in Eastbourne today, was quite heavy at one point. Stopped a while ago so not sure if it's melted off the roads or not.

Had to go to the post office depot to get a parcel this morning.... Had to play dodgems with all the motons sliding all over the place on the glassy smooth layer of packer snow....  I was the only one with proper traction!

Drove to work this morning, the main (gritted) road I would have taken has been closed for a few days because of road road works. This means I had to take the 'diversion', a more remote route over a steep hill, naively I assumed the council would have gritted this, since it is now carrying >500% its normal traffic levels and it a road 2 cars cannot even pass in places. How wrong was I! the road was a death trap, if I didn't have ABS in the car i would probably have inserted it into a dry stone wall and it is only luck nothing was coming the other way as I crawled at 2 mph for several miles.

It's probably because of ABS that you nearly did!  It's rubbish in snow/ice conditions. Wish I could switch mine off, like I do the "traction control" aka anti-wheelspin sofware.

Just a little snow for us today, the ground was too hard for planting trees, so we cut one down & chopped it up

It was rotten at the base & had to come down before it fell down :(

I have single handedly ensured that there will be no significant snow in the South East this Winter.

Following the dump two years ago we spent the next month explaining to the minis that they will never see snow like that in their childhood again, and no, we're not buying a sledge.

Cue last Winter. We gave in and tried to order sledges, but by the time anyone had one in stock the snow had gone.

I took delivery of two this morning. Ergo, no snow until the children are hulking great teenagers and wouldn't want to be seen dead with us.

Ours sledge broke due to overuse last year. Haven't got a new one yet. Chances of getting one now nill. Our Tesco delivery cried off yesterday due to snow and them deciding they couldn't get up here. I drove to the nearest shops instead for supplies, it wasn't that bad.  Snowing for three days and still haven't been gritted though. I have to fly to Germany today, it might be interesting getting out this afternoon. It was -10 last night !
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

No snow though.
It is simpler than it looks.

We're getting loads at the moment.  About 6 inches so far, and plenty still falling.  I think I'll be working from home tomorrow.

Updated 12.30 - seems to have peaked at about 10 inches, now thawing rapidly.

A nearby Old Wife tells me:

"If there's ice in November, that will bear a duck,
there will be nothing after but sludge and muck."

By which I think she means, such cold in November is often followed by a mild winter. Well, the ducks in Gt Massingham (Norfolk) were most definitely standing on the ice this morning.

Clever lot, those old wives. Here's hoping...

It shows no sign of stopping here in Toytown.  So we'll need to dig the car out so I can go to work tonight, and then I'll be riding home in the morning. I'm glad I got those winter tyres.

I have put snow tyres on the Galaxy's wheels.

There's no snow. :(

Still no snow. Monday and Tuesday look like fun, though.

Next Friday is looking chilly.

"Feels like -12oC at 3pm" in SW15.

Time to get the hackbike (still has the Marathon Winter studded tyres on from last year) out of the shed. :)

How did you find those tyres if you had to ride on normal road surfaces? I might invest.
