We went MTBing in the Surrey Hills yesterday. Lunchtime was rapidly approaching, and our tummies were rumbling, so we thought we'd aim towards the nearest village in the hope of a pub or something. Stopping a passing MTBer for directions, he confirmed that we were headed in the right direction and that there was a cake shop "but don't have cake, the cheese straws are much better."
We got into Peaslake, and it's a cyclist's paradise! The bus shelter was surrounded by bike stands (mostly wheel benders, but not a problem with an MTB) and additional benches, just opposite a small village store which sold humungous cheese straws for 65p each, and large mugs of tea. Even the pub had half a dozen or so sheffield stands by the door. The place was packed with cyclists all grubbily quaffing tea and nomming down cheese straws and comparing maps.
I approve!
