POIs showing on Garmin.
« on: 27 April, 2016, 03:31:00 pm »
Hi!
I've downloaded my POis using the guide here http://www.cycletourer.co.uk/cycletouring/custompois.shtml , I can see they are in the Garmin. However I'm not sure how to get them to display best on the maps, I want them to show up up to about 10 to 20k away. I have restarted my GPS.

Thanks
Julia

10-20km?!?  By the time you've zoomed out enough to see that far on a Garmin the display is mostly useless clutter.

Yes I would use map setup to display User Waypoints at about 800m - anything more that that is pointless as Kim says.  I'm not sure which setting affects POIs - User Waypoins or Map Points, one of those probably.
While cycling, I am usually zoomed to 120m give or take - it would have to be really remote country (Siberia maybe) to have me zoomed out past 800m.
when you're dead you're done, so let the good times roll
