Edge fell off bars, undamaged, now it won't start
« on: 12 January, 2024, 11:55:40 pm »
My venerable Edge Touring Plus fell off my bar mount this evening onto cobbles. I didn't spot it had gone for several miles but, luckily, it was still there when I went back. However, it won't now start - no reaction to the power button, nothing when I connect it to the computer. I've tried the "hold the power button down for ages" thing. There is no visible external damage at all (it was in one of those rubber impact cases).

Any suggestions? Or, if I open it up, anything to look for that is known for coming loose with impacts?

The manual says to reset

1. Press power button for 10 seconds
2. Press power button for 1 second to turn on

I presume you release between step 1 and 2  ;D

Of course it may just be a connector / wire broke internally when it hit the ground.

Yes, that's the power button stuff I tried. I agree, may be something internal. It uses tiny security screws, so I'm just off to the local hardware specialists (you probably know Brooker's?) to see if I can get something small enough. The smallest driver I have is the next size up.
