Noctilucent clouds; quite uncommon; and eerie. These were seen in 2009, not seen any this year. 2006 was particularly good for some reason.

Setting sun casts crepuscular rays through a vapour trail into a higher level cloud layer. Sadly, the picture doesn't do the effect justice - the rays were much more pronounced in Real Life.

Little fluffy clouds that would have looked quite innocent in daylight take on an altogether more sinister appearance by moonlight.

About half an hour after this photograph was taken, we got quite wet and there were noisy flashes and icy bits.
