Nice to see rides finally being named after Half Man Half Biscuit songs, but disappointing it doesn't quite make it to the Wirral :)

I think you would like it Deano as there is a fair bit of off-road sections.

Back for 2025 will be "The Descent of the Stiperstones" in 200km and 300km format
If I ever get around to a 600km it's most likely going to Crewe to Cambridgeshire for either "For What is Chatteris?" or "I Left My Hearst in Papworth General"
I don't think AUK is quite ready for a "F88kin' Hell It's Fred Titmus 200km" or the "I Hate Nerys Hughes Brevet Populaire"   :D :D :D

I would be really interested in riding the "Voyage to the Bottom of the Road 200" or "Trouble over Bridgwater" But will avoid anything associated with "Some Fell on Stony Ground"!

I fancy some of those.   What's the parking situation in Crewe?

mr ben

  • Some routes may be arduous.
    • ramblings and randonees

"This is an X-rated event with postal finish, GPX will be provided but no routesheet, E-Brevet available as well."

Is this permitted?  Asking out of curiosity, I'm not considering (or indeed capable of) an entry.
Think it possible that you may be mistaken.

Surely one of these on/off road routes can be "Emerging from Gorse"?

Ha, excellent, I'd missed most of those.

Sadly I'm busy that weekend so no trip to Crewe for me :)

I did that myself earlier this year, presumably for the same sort of reasons (on/off-road ride where the off-road sections are a pain to write, and the instructions would be a pain to follow, eg which of three unmarked tracks out on the moors is actually the correct route and how do you include that on a route sheet).

I did give riders the option and offered to write one for at least the roadie bits, but no one asked for a route sheet.

There is nothing in the regs that says organisers have to provide a routesheet, I learnt that this year. I take writing routesheets and checking them very serious, one of the issues holding me back from putting on gravel events was how you are meant to write a routesheet for the off road sections. Easier to give everyone the gpx and a link to the route, for non gpx users they can use a highlighter and map and strap it to the bars

Ta, I just wondered.  I can see that trying to write one when you haven't got any road signs would be a challenge! L @ Tree... ???
