Fair enough, you were there, just thought that at that point you'd have good sight of the (one-way) oncoming traffic, even with the lorry there.

*I* did because low cycle traffic at that moment, especially oncoming, meant I could go all the way to the right.

If I grinked/ranted every bit of silliness I saw I would probably have had a heart attack by now, as well as little time for cycling.  Speaking of grinking, I've had no reply from the company in question.

Well that one's fairly obvious.  He's trying to make it difficult for anyone trying to nick stuff out of the back of the van.

Spectacular.

I think I've guessed what the driver's disability is.

Very rare use of 4 spaces by anything other than a campervan towing a caravan.  Top marks.

Rubbish photo, but this van is taking the full width of the road, in front of it is a truck also taking the full width. About 5 metres further back is a large parking area.

This is during the morning rush hour. A bit difficult to see in the background, just beyond the unloaded stuff are, in order: a large square concrete flowerpot, an A-board for the wine bar, tables and chairs across the cycle path, then another flowerpot.

Maybe the diagram of a bicycle on the bollard also indicates the actual size of bikes the route is designed for?

I hear they are allowing Garden Gnomes into the Chelsea Flower Show this year.

Perhaps they will consider cars as a floral accompaniment next year:

It's always a BMW, isn't it?

The next day, I saw a soft top BMW parking in one of the disabled spaces outside Darlo's Wilko. I assumed he didn't have a blue badge.

But who says there's never a policeman Parking Control Officer around when you want one? She wandered along just as the driver was leaving his car, and asked him if he did have a disabled parking badge.

He, of course, replied "No", and she asked him to leave, politely.

To my disappointment, he only put up a token argument before leaving. I was amazingly slow about unlocking my bike from the Sheffield stand, which gave me time to enjoy the show.

Where's the schadenfreude thread? ;D

This could go in Interesting & Unusual cars (it's a Roller), or the number plates thread, but I felt the key characteristic here was the utterly fuddish parking.

For those who do not know the area, it's the base of The Shard, by London Bridge station.  You can see that he is parked in hailing distance of the kerb, which has double yellow lines.

To get to this point, he must have taken a Buses Only turn, and driven through the bus station.

A whole gallery of "parking absurdities" from Warsaw here. On the site of a group lobbying to build more car parks...  :-\ Though it does have some sensible stuff, like reminding people of the legal requirement to leave at least 1.5m of pavement clear.

I'm relieved to see it's a car from out of state (Ohio requires front plates as well as rear).
