Starring Joanna Scanlan off of The Thick Of It.

A bit like The Bill, but darker and funnier, and much less macho.  I do wonder what fuzzy OTP would make of it.

I like it!  something to get you through a cold winter evening.

Some good little phrases in there.

"Prostate-fingering freemasons" is my favourite so far.

Missed all of series 1. Frankly hadn't heard of it until the production company bought the BMX used in the hospital corridor.

Good fun recognising some of the locations thobut.

Same here - or rather " until Torslanda mentioned that bike." !

S2Ep1 was really good. There was a lot incomprehensible dialogue about events in S1, but it wasnt a problem. I think Jo Scnlan is brilliant in comedic roles, but this part is supposed to be gritty but with witty cop banter; which I'm not YET convinced she is as suited to.

Sadly Ep2 was very very average. I'm hoping it's just the Difficult Second Album Episode problem.
(What on earth was the big fuss about cockatoo girl? I must have missed something. Why were the accused and the interrogator acting like this was terrorism, or mass pedo-ism, or Arson in a Naval Dockyard? )

I reckon it wants to be Scott and Bailey, but witha funny female lead. So far it isn't half as good, but it has some good elements, so we'll see.

Is the cockatoo back-story in it?

No, but all the relationships depend on what happens in the first series.  Anyway you need to watch it just because it's great.

It's all very frenetic, isn't it. And funny. There's not much time for brooding introspection.

I'd forgotten that I watched the first series until you mentioned that.

Wasn't fully compos mentis last night but, judging by the ending of last night's episode, Viv could be in the SH1TE . . .

I thought the set-up was a bit contrived - surely they wouldn't really have been so incompetent?

Eeee that was really good!  Has there ever been a more evil villain than Nora Atta?

And is it just me, or does Viv need to get over her problem with the inspector?  She seems all right!
