As we arrived we spied our chariot from Tower Bridge
We met up on HMS President, and had a briefing from a number of dignitaries, including an oarsman with 5 gold medals.
There were partial red trousers
The band readied
and the Gloriana set off just ahead of us
We travelled up the Thames, waving: not drowning, to congregate at The Palace of Westminster. Here is one of the bridges, closed.
The flotilla assembled. Aaaaaargh!
Not everyone was rowing
Shame about the scaffolding
and the dereliction of duty
Some of the flotilla were at Dunkirk
The band played rousing tunes
and the passengers sung
spectators spectated
some with helmets
some without
We passed through the now open Tower Bridge
A set of
BRITISH icons
and as the smoke cleared from the Red Arrows and the 62 gun salute, we set off towards the Theme Park known as Wowbaggerland
There was a kitty. We watched it pass through the Barrier, then we passed through ourselves.
But turned back before we were attacked by attendants at the aforementioned Theme Park
I nearly forgot - the amazing staff
and the amazing caik
and finally, back at Paddington, a special loco laid on for us
so, red trousers, caik, pirates, bridges, helmets, kittehs: a perfect day out.
