Richard has responded.

He has requested that Newport Council operate the bridge for riders on the audax and is waiting to hear back from them.

Will post again once Richard updates me.

Last time I used the Transporter Bridge it was manned by volunteers.Hopefully they will volunteer on the day.If not its a very short diversion to the road bridge.

Just checked the routesheet which reads, 'The Transporter Bridge in Newport is opening for us, so we can be “transported” across the River Usk and avoid some of the busier roads through Newport'. Yay  :thumbsup:

I'm in for this.

I wanted to ride gears, but my fancy new bike has a leaking caliper and will not be joining us. Only bike that's suitable and available is my fixie, so fixed it is.

I see two long climbs on the profile that may upset me. Been a while since I rode a decent distance on fixed. Probably not since a 400k in September 2017?
