Title: Retro press camera mock-up
Post by: Jaded on 04 January, 2017, 10:12:41 pm
I will be taking photos at an event themed retro style - think Speed Graphic camera era.

I'll be using my modern DSLR - but I'd like to at least maybe have a retro style flash reflector. I'm not sure I can disguise the whole camera.

Naively I thought the interwebs would be full of cardboard trickery to do such a thing, but I can find nothing - any ideas from the panel?

"vintage camera flash" throws up various things on etsy. Do you want to actually fire the flash when you take a picture?

I'd like to fire the real, modern flash, yes.

Ooh, yes, possibly! I'm now looking at props suppliers etc.

I'd be tempted to mock something up from a plastic bowl and tin-foil.

Most of the "classic" silver dish reflectors had a small bulb mount and I guess you want a "letterbox" to fit over your flashgun.

Will you be wearing a trilby, with a press card tucked in the head band?

Should be possible to knock up a suitable remote release as well ... I sense an interesting build coming on.
