Why doesn't bind weed take over the world?

It seems to make a very good attempt in our garden, but when I'm out cycling the lanes it only seems to be around in a few isolated spots...

Interesting thought.  I'm surprised that the world isn't just a mass of bind weed, brambles and sycamore.

Possibly because it has an easy time of it in a cultivated garden, whereas in the wild, it has much more competition and is crowded out by lots and lots of everything.
