UK spec was all-over silver, which the frame currently is. Boring and shows rust speckles like nothing else.
US spec was gold. Better.
1991 Cinder Cones were gold with black forks and black stem. I like that.
Another option is a very deep blue - there's no actual precedent for this but I think it would look good.
This is a skinny-tubed MTB (Tange Prestige Concept, shaped tubing and lightweight) and here's a picture of a standard UK one (with optional suspension - mine has rigid P2 forks, which is kind of the point in doing it).
The 1994 bikes are interesting because, although they lost the nice oval coloured decals used on the 1991-93 bikes, they were the last ones actually designed by Joe Murray, whose name featured heavily on the earlier bikes. He left Kona in 1993 after designing the new range. Kilaueas fitted in between the Cinder Cone and Explosif in the range, and the 1994 model used tubing previously only available on the (very expensive) Explosif, which had moved onto Tange Ultimate.
