The biggest laugh I ever heard in a theatre was at a League of Gentlemen live show, when the 'Legs Akimbo' theatre troupe talked in fake Lancashire accents.

It was seen as a sort of lightly fictionalised documentary of Pennine life by us lowland Lancastrians. It was very popular in Norway, for much the same reasons, and for its echoes of some of Ibsen's themes.
