Anyone (still) having problems accessing the BBC website
« on: 03 January, 2016, 10:54:43 am »
I know there were problems recently (not that I experienced them) but I am getting "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" problems. A simple refresh usually resolves. This happens only on the BBC, on all browsers and all of my desktops, laptops and tablets.

I've rebooted the router, changed my DNS... any other suggestions? Or is there a problem with the beeb's site still?

Ok, thanks. Not just me then. I'll just have to wait for the BBC's geek squad to resolve.

OK for me. I'm listening on the radio iPlayer to the Ashes recap with Root and Broad.

Intermittent here.   Sometimes it loads normally, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm thinking somebody at Aunty dropped Humpty and they're still picking up some of the fragments.

I want to listen to the cricket, but can't get the radio player to work.  Normally works fine here.

I was getting the retry message but noticed that the second go showed a URL that differed from my desktop shortcut - changed the shortcut and it now fires up first time every time.

Nope - it has been confirmed that it was a deliberate DoS attack by a group.

Who'd want to DOS the Beeb?  Disgruntled Sherlock fans?

Islamic State because they think the BBC's putting across a warped spin. Or Anti-IS players as they think the BBC's putting across a warped spin. Or cricket fans objecting to the Beeb stopping showing Test Matches (cricket's a long game).

The report I heard was that is was some anti Islamic State hackers who were running a test of their processes.   ???

Same story I heard. Didn't seem to be a real justification for it.

Anyone getting a server not available message for the BBC site?
It is simpler than it looks.

And it is back up.

It's weird, the outage coincided with the EE signal being down here.

Should be no connection as the BBC services are hosted on AWS.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

There might be wider ITissues at the Beeb. The TV red button service has reverted back to the old style format for me today.
