Foxes in the garden
« on: 15 September, 2016, 01:09:47 pm »
We have foxes in the garden - they are excavating down the side of the Anderson Shelter.  While we are happy in principle to have them in residence they are causing a great deal of damage.  I now need a shovel to get into the shed as the spoil heap is getting quite large.

Is there a way to disuade them from living with us.

Thanks

To quote Jasper Carrott in relation to moles; "Blow their bloody heads off!"

Foxes belong in the countryside, not in my bloody garden, and no, I definitely don't encourage them, but a mad woman down the road thinks its clever to feed them right outside our house, leaving foil food trays blowing around the road, and encouraging the foxes to hang around near my neighbour's chickens.  Despite about twenty reports of littering and encouraging vermin, the local council can't be arsed for one of their enforcement guys to shift himself.

While they can be a bit of a nuisance they can also be delightful

I don't feed them but I'd much rather have them around than not.

Foxes, like many animals need food, drink and shelter.
You can reduce some of their food supply but AIUI they'll eat anything.
I suspect our local foxes eat leftover fast food and the ENORMOUS pigeons that also feast on this.

It's a question of making the habitat more hostile...

They can and we like the idea of them but....

We had cubs a few years ago.  They ended up in the pond (read cast iron bath sunk into the ground) and were not found for several days.

How?  Jeyes fluid or brambles approach?
