Allez Steve

Right at the start of the ride, Steve hinted that he had a secret weapon in his plan.  The others could copy his schedule, they could even start a couple of weeks afterwards to give them the normal TT advantage of knowing the target distance.  However there was a hint of spice hiding somewhere in the plans.

It is now evident what that spice is.  He was going to give them curry in the summer months and blast the others out of the water with some monster rides.    He is no longer using the secret weapon to leap forward, he's using it to catch up.

Bravo.  Have a good day on the bike.

You may be right, but Steve is currently alternating these longer-than-the-competition rides with relatively short ones [within the context of WR beating cyclists]. His average over the last week is about 218 miles per day. That compares with Kurt's weekly average of about 222 and Tommy's of 241.

He'll need to be consistently riding quite a bit further than Tommy just to catch up. There's still some way to go yet.

He's up this week compared to this point last week which he mentioned the other day he wanted to do.  Only 24.8 miles up but still it's progress.  He needs to beat 182.4 today to maintain that progress.

Steve said he wanted to be riding 1750 miles per week now: this is 250 miles or 402 km per day.  Average over the last 5 days is just over 360 km per day, so will need some more monster rides to reach his current target.

That ties in with what he told me on the 9 Counties audax.
