[HAMR] 1st July - Teethgrinder Day 182
« on: 01 July, 2015, 05:52:27 am »
Looks like Steve had a kip in an Audax hotel or something similar.  19 miles on the road already  at 5.50am some where in North Norfolk.

Indeed the first tracker point is at a very ornate bus shelter outside Melton Constable!

Any idea what time and how far when Steve stopped for the night?

I wonder if he can find a shady 'Audax hotel' for a midday kip out of the sun.  ;)

Anybody along the Asparagus & Strawberries route who wants to catch a glimpse of the Red Randonneur today?  :D

On hot days it can indeed be good to right most of the night and sleep in the afternoon. A busshelter might then be replaced by a shady tree.

Quite close to Little Snoring

Also Rule #22 is new, I would hope the competitors have been notified rather than being expected to check for themselves.

Steve did over 29,000 miles in the first half of the year.  Assuming he keeps up at least 200 miles per day for the rest of the year he would still have 65,000 miles and would likely go past Bernard Bennett's valiant second place in 1939.  I'm not sure there are many on this forum who can claim to be second best in history at something.

Have a good un Steve, It's warm out there already I did my 50km ride early this morning and it was 21c at 6.30am I really wouldn't want to be out in it all day so Chateaux! Steve keep up the good work.

Steve's nose was sunburnt and peeling when I saw him yesterday. I hope he has got something to address that issue as well as protecting other exposed areas. He did comment that he was glad the cold weather was over, though.

Much more of this weather and he's gonna have a record breaking 'Cyclist's tan'.  ;D

Only if he's out of the long sleeve/leg gear he was still in when you photo'd him last week.  Is he in summer gear now?

The second half will therefore be longer than the first. Half-time happens tomorrow at lunchtime. Oranges, anyone?

After many years research I discovered I was second best at being me.

Ah, so you are best at being Wobbly, except when he has a good day or you are not trying hard enough.

Surely the noise of all the digging would wake him up?  ;D

Two rides logged - 93 and 207 miles (to add to 178 yesterday!).
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

Blimey, I'd like to see Jo's moving time graph for this to see if I'm reading his Stava correctly.  Seems he slept for 90 mins starting midnight and had 2 other 30 min breaks in the ride up to 9 AM.  He then only had 5 short 10-15 min breaks in the rest of the day so >20 hours pedalling.  No wonder the tracker hasn't fired up yet today.

That's pretty much it. I've added the latest movement charts to the visualization thread (bottom to rows in red for Steve's overnight tour of East Anglia).
