Fork mount mudguard fettling

Ordered and fitted a new set of like for like forks from Spa Cycles as I had them cut too short initially. To my dismay the forks seem to have changed slightly meaning they have rather too much mudguard clearance for my liking. The SKS mount cannot go any lower but is a good 1cm higher than the previous forks iteration. Arse! How to extend the fork mounting bracket? I can only think to take a hacksaw to the top of the bracket to allow it to drop down more.

I used a small strip of stainless steel, cut and drilled for the job. Got it from eBay IIRC.
