Prompted by a conversation with my wife, I was thinking on this subject.
The first 2 that came to mind were “Coast” and Jonathan Miller’s “The Body in Question”.
-
The ascent of man.
Boys from the black stuff.
Auf weidersehen pet
The singing detective

Last of the Summer Wine - but only up to the three episodes saying goodbye to Compo, couldn't bear to watch it after that.

Auf weidersehen pet

ITV4 at 9 has that :)

Our friends in the North.

Edge Of Darkness

Oh no, it’s Selwyn Froggit….. just as a reminder of how bad some TV could be. And for the nuclear option, Romany Jones…
-
The Ascent Of Man was my first thought.
-
Monocled Mutineer
Singing Detective
Between the Lines
Green Wing
And, should be on free to air TV… Queen’s Gambit and True Detective
-
BBC 4 / iPlayer is pretty good for several that have been mentioned here. The Singing Detective is currently available. Our Friends in the North was there a few months back (OFitN was, in my recollection one of my all time favourites, and remains remarkable in its ambition, but I was surprised in my rewatching of it how dated it has become despite resonant themes of institutional corruption; compromise in the Labour Party and marginalisation).
It is also interesting to rewatch series that were groundbreaking at the time, but their influence now makes them appear somewhat formulaic - This Life for example.
I'd like to see the first series of Big Brother and Castaway 2000, just to see how far reality TV has morphed in the last couple of decades.

Edge Of Darkness
It was on a couple of years ago. I pointed get_iplayer at it.

Edge Of Darkness
Been done a couple of times, it hasn’t really aged that well, although the characters are still good.
Riffing on BFTBS made me think of the original from Play For Today, which also had the first London’s Burning.
And yes to Green Wing. One of Julian Rhind-Tutt’s few visual roles, but what a role. Also good in The Hours which I wish had carried on. (That’s a different subject, but I was disgusted with the BBC for not recommissioning Giri/Haji).

Harry's Game
Secret Army
The latter if only to counter the endless repeats of allo allo. It was shown on Drama a couple of years ago, and it's still watchable.
-
I watched all of Secret Army about 18 months ago. Excellent stuff.
"Ultraviolet". Jack Davenport, Idris Elba & Susannah Harker chasing vampires in London. A shame they only made one series.

Dark Season, obviously. ;D
The Secret Life of Machines.

Firefly

Unlike Fairly Secret Army, sadly, which started out well but ran out of ideas pretty quickly. A shame because it was a great premise. Notable for the Michael Nyman theme.

Series I have watched more than once and will likely watch again:
Black Spot (Zone Blanc in the original French)
Moon Knight
Legion
Almost Human
Helstrom
The Exorcist (the TV series, not the movies, although I'll watch them too)
Constantine
Bagpuss
Firefly
Haikyuu!
Kuroko's Basketball
The Invisible Man (the Vincent Ventresca one)
And no, there's nothing especially educational or literary or whatever in there, but I do find something new to enjoy in them each time I watch, and I usually repeat watch things when I need to turn bits of my brain off.

I hope you mean the 1978 Japanese version.

And not Mockney, which is also different and contains Jamie Oliver.

Coupling
The day of the triffids (1980’s version)
Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy

Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy
All versions of HGTTG are rubbish compared to the original R4 version. (Including the book).

This is true, but the TV series gets a pass on the grounds of the Guide animations.

(The book gets a pass on the grounds that it has the words DON'T PANIC inscribed in large friendly letters on its cover.)
(The film gets a pass on the grounds of the opening earworm.)

Sorry, no. I mean the dubbed one from 1979. Andrew Sachs voices the horse.

Same thing, just dubbed.
I did, in a fit of nostalgia, try watching the modern remake. Lasted 5min before switching off in disgust.

Ah yes, I thought that's what you meant regarding the 78/79 production. I don't speak Japanese, although The Girl, while at University, did a module of Japanese just so she could understand anime better.
Modern remakes. Just don't.

Chancer - Clive Owen, Susannah Harker, Sean Pertwee and the "hellooooo" guy, whose name evades me.

Monkey Dust (although the BBC have expunged it due to its being a but non-PC), Drop The Dead Donkey, Between the Lines, The Smoking Room.
