I suppose it should really be called lemon meringue tart. But rules are tools and all that.

Or Key Lime Pie.

American fruit pies are too sweet – fruit needs to retain a little tartness and the Americans, as ever, sugar it out of existence. Most American fruit pies are just diabetes in pastry.

Yes compare lemon meringue to a tart citron. As well as it not being too sweet the French even get the classification correct.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Hah! They make no distinction, I'd translate both tart and pie as tarte. I don't think the concept of a BRITISH pie exists in french cooking

I thought that Kim had already posted that.

I think it more than a little suspicious that today is not only #BritishPieWeek but also #WorldKidneyDay.

And now it's #worldPiDay (March 14th using the US date convention). There's something weird going on man.

I want to like this but the not-actually-a-pie looks sad.

If I were a ramekin with a pastry topping I wouldn't call myself a pie, but then I wouldn't identify as a pie. TBH, I think I might be all for inclusivity in the pie world - we should be supportive of all pies, regardless of how we might perceive them.

If it's in a ramekin then it's stew in a hat. We have to draw the line somewhere. Pie club is an exclusive club which is why we have the second rule of pie club. Anything else would be irrational.
