Now France

Laon

Vitry-aux-Loges

The Loire at Jargeaux

The Loire at Blois

The Indre

Not sure where this is

A Roman bridge not far from Loches

A bridge at Loches. If I'd photographed the bridge to my right instead of to my left, you might well have seen Mr & Mrs Valkyie

A bridge about 12 km upstream of Tours

A footbridge over the Canal du Berry

The new A-frame cable-stayed bridge over the Rhone at Seyssel

The old bridge over the Rhone at Seyssel. The arch in the middle might look a little OTT, but until 1860 it was the international frontier between France and Savoy.

The bridge between Confolans and Albertville over the River Arly

I guess not many motorway bridges are used as little as this one.

One way:

The other:

There's no vibrations, but wait.

I've been there!  About (dredges memory and carries out Hard Sums) 25, maybe 26 years ago.

A little O/T Mr larrington your Mayorship Sir,

Alas not as I only spent long enough not in the car while in Memphis to smoke a fag and take a handful of pictures.  Tight schedule, innit.  The only Kultural thing I've taken in thus far has been the Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo TX, but I plan on visiting the Darlington Raceway Museum tomorrow.

And it doesn't open until 10 am so I can have a lie in :)

Not just any bridge but the real, the actual Pont de Normandie!

It costs a whole €5 to cross but by $Deity it don't half save some arse getting to Calais.

Also a Cat 4 climb in the Tour. Trufax.

Another one deserving its own post is this.

Historic, evocative and very emotional.

Here's the one it replaced. There's more than one or two bullet holes in it . . .

... and another, this time rather more skeletal, with some impressive cables and suchlike.

Cool, a proper Meccano bridge, that one.  8)

The original Pegasus bridge is,not suprisingly, the site of the first casualty of the D-Day landings.

Italy and back through France

In the Aosta Valley

Ignore the Forte di Bard in the background, the bridge is in the foreground

Still in the Aosta Valley, the roman bridge at Pont Saint Martin (yes, it is in Italy despite the French name
Quote from:  wikipedia
The Pont-Saint-Martin is a Roman segmental arch bridge in the Aosta Valley in Italy dating to the 1st century BC.
The span is 103 feet (31.4 m)[1] according to recent research, but frequently stated to be 35.64 m or 36.65 m

Maverick and xrtim know this one - it's the bridge over the Yonne at Joigny.

A bridge carrying to TGV line over the Canal de Bourgogne.

Le pont suspendu over the Yonne at Cezy. 3.5 tonne weight limit, one vehicle at a time, 10kph speed limit.

The bridge across the Loire at Beaugency

and at Muides-sur-Loire

The Loire at Gien. It took this while waiting for my takeaway pizza on the Herentals 1200.

Two for Crinkly Lion.  Can't remember where this first one is - somewhere South of Cambridge where we stopped to regroup

This next is at Audley End.  You descend to it, so you get a good swoop up and over.  Just as you clock the balustrading, and start thinking, 'Hey, this is a bit of a fancy bridge', you spot the big house.  Folk were kind enough to wait while I went back to take the photos.

Some years ago, I used to eat my lunch on or near that bridge most Thursdays.

One year there was a black swan's nest just upstream from the bridge. THe mother laid 7 eggs, 4 of which hatched. After a few weeks, none of the cygnets were left, I assume the victims of foxes.

We passed that bridge on Sunday. I don't think Jes would've been impressed if I requested a photo-stop...
