Just a general query "are they big or small or correct in their sizing?"
I am UK 45/11 most of the time but 46 Shimano/Look and 47 for Sidi!

In my experience of Northwave footwear, they come up slightly small.
Having said that, everybody's experience of sizing shoes seems to vary wildly!

In my experience:
46 everyday wear, Sidi (road) 47 and Northwave (mtb) 46, and they happen to be a very very good fit.
Can you not try some on?

Shoes and helmets are the two things that you should really find a shop to buy them from.
I'm usually 10.5, but went for 11.
The notable thing about Northwaves is the wide toebox.

Glad I went for the 46s!
NORTHWAVE VERTIGO SBS arrived today and they are snug!
So always add 1 to UK sizing!
