Streetmachine body link seat / grease
« on: 23 December, 2012, 10:41:50 am »
Need some grease for the body link seat on the Streetmachine. The seat is in two parts, and the sliding interface needs grease to avoid creaking.

I've been looking for something specifically stated as being suitable for plastics, without much success.

What to people use.

Thanks

Only tangentially relevant, but for the benefit of anyone with the older single-piece HPV hardshell seat, the trick for reducing (on a good day, eliminating) the incessant creaking is (unintuitively) to clean the seat/frame interface with degreaser/alcohol and then do the QRs up bastard tight.  Ideally, do away with the QRs entirely and fit proper bolts.

They fixed this particular problem with the Bodylink seat.  Something to do with silicone washers, IIRC.

I'd look at the old Pace silicone grease used in their suspension forks. It was compatible with carbon fibre fork legs, so should be OK.
