BBC Medieval Theme Tune

I'm not normally a fan of adverts but I thought this one for the BBC's medieval season was quite good:

Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze

Purple Haze all in my brain
Lately things don't seem the same
Acting funny but I don't know why
Excuse me while i kiss the sky

here

Purple haze all around
don't know if I'm coming up or down
am i happy or in misery
What ever it is that girl put a spell on me

HELP ME ... HELP ME oh i don't know

Oo, Ah. (4x)

Purple haze all in my eyes
don't know if it's day or night
you've got me blowin',blowin' my mind
is it tomorrow or just the end of time

who knows?
help me
Oh yeah
come on know
tell me
tell me
Can't go on like this...

The Stephen Fry show last night was excellent.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Twas indeed.  It was obviously a subject that enthralled him.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Wow--as a former has-been never-was medievalist who likes animation and weird acoustic music, I'd love to see a higher-quality version of that. And the series that it is advertising.

So--is it a series, or a bunch of individual shows under one theme? And did S. Fry do just one, or all?

Bunch, and just one.

Generally I hate covers, but I love weird covers!

OK--well, I hope (against hope) that BBC America will eventually show them.

LOL, so that's what it was, I was listening to the 'original' clip, and was thinking, "I know this, what is it ... ?"

It's odd how you know you know something, but until you listen to the original, you can't place it.

Well, I definitely wouldn't suggest that you look on UK Nova. <cough>

...and don't look under "MEDIEVAL SEASON - Stephen Fry and The Machine That Made Us" (this link will only work if you're logged in).
Actually, it is rocket science.

No, it shouldn't work in the USA, on indeed anywhere outside of the UK.  I think it uses the IP address range to geolocate the user, which although not 100% infallible, is a fairly reliable way of locating users.

I found that out the hard way--was looking forward to watching something, but then got the "sorry, you're a funny foreigner" message.

iPlayer works for me, but not if it is an article linked to from elsewhere on the BBC site.

'Tis very strange as I am sat in an office in sunny (ha!) Hampshire!!!
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State
