Camping in the Midlands
« on: 27 January, 2019, 07:30:41 pm »
I am thinking about a April or may camping weekend at the Wolvey camping and caravaning park
at Wolvey near hinckley which has a railway station. .prices for cycle campers is. .£8 and they take car campers and caravans. They allow fires and the site opens from March which is when I will speak to them. If anyone is interested let me know. The only dates that I have to avoid is the  weekend of theclosest to the 13th of may as I am hoping to take apollo to the O2 arena to watch the wrestling for his 30th birthday  ☺

Sounds like a good idea to me.  Weather dependent of course, no way of judging that this far in advance.

One thing doesn't make sense though – surely Apollo can't be 30?!!!! :o

We stayed at that site a couple of years ago when the ALC had their AGM in the village there.
Not a bad site and we cycled up from Coventry station, which is only 9 mile away.
Depending on weekend and work shifts we'll join you (new job is 5 on 3 off).

I have stayed there several times in the last decade.  Site is fine, road noise from the distant motorway is surprisingly apparent at night.  Of the village pubs, the Blue Pig is by far the better.  There is no other decent pub anywhere within about 8 miles, I have tried.

We're hoping to move in the next couple of weeks so I'm a bit unfocused at the moment and it depends on the levels of chaos ensuing, but we'll come if we can.

I'm working on the Friday night but will hopefully be there sometime on the Sat.
There are 2 sites close together on that road, just to confirm is this the one planned to go to?

Just gave them a call and was told that since I was in a small tent and didn't want electrickery I didn't need to book.

Weather's looking dry but cold overnight.

Anyone else coming?

Possibly. Need to check trains as I can't get out of work Friday morning. How far and what sort of ride from Mordor Central? Or what are other nearby stations?

Your nearest station is probably Bedworth ( edit or even Hinckley /edit ) but Coventry, Rugby and Nuneaton are best served.

Be aware that there are no shops or cashpoints in the immediate vicinity.

Be aware that there are no shops or cashpoints in the immediate vicinity.
Wolvey stores and post office approximately 1/2 mile from the campsite.
