I've injured a muscle in my back, laying concrete, mostly pushing wheelbow full of concrete - by rough reckoning I shifted 12tons of it in 1.5hours. Then spent the next two hours screeding it off.

Consulting my old anatomy book, I've injured the Quadratus Lumborum on one side.

Really could do with cycling to the shops tonight - not sure I can manage it. Well, I might get there, not sure I'll get home. Vitamin I before I set off I guess.

[Edit] well I finally went on Fri eve. Lo and behold, back doesn't hurt when cycling!

So I can ride, but walking or sitting at a desk is really not comfortable.

Hope the Vit I is effective!

Quadratus lumborum is muscle that bridges the gap between the lowest ribs and the posterior pelvis.

Get better soon!

Was pleased to go up local 6% climb out of our valley without angina today, with heart at 100% max just 7 min after setting out and despite 3°C.  El Prez wasn't doing so well though, despite his eBike: he didn't do the hill but his branch block was kicking in (out?) even on false flats, which sent his heart rate down to 44 bpm and gave him quite severe pain. Dunno why his cardiologist doesn't get him a pacemaker.

Worried about El Prez: since our ride last Saturday, he tells me, he has heart pain every time he moves and his SpO2 is running at 92% rather than his usual 97-98%.  He has his regular appointment with his cardiologist on Friday, but I told him to call her now or else get to the ER. Between now & Friday he could be dead.

I spent six hours in A&E yesterday as I've had a rather uncomfortable arrythmia (literally missing beats, and causing a tight feeling in the chest) on and off since Saturday, and constantly yesterday afternoon.  They did ECG, bloods and an X-ray but there is nothing apparently wrong, although the arrythmia was very obvious during the ECG.  It went away by 7pm.  The theory is that it's a minor infection accentuated by too much coffee (I don't drink much coffee - none from now! - but, when I do, ir's very strong and black).

I have to arrange a thyroid function test through the GP to rule that out.

I overdosed on coffee 35 years ago and this did feel extremely similar.

I did the same bit with coffee when we first moved to France - felt horrible, alarming too.  GP was most amused. Hope it stays away.

Nice bandage! I don't think I've kept track with what you had done, but I hope you have good pain relief and can escape soon!

I haven't checked but I do think that littlest piggy is still under there. Hypnotoad is a guide for the correct inter-metatarsal space.

Morton's interdigital neuroma.

It's a swelling on the nerves between the toes, which causes pain and numbness in the forefoot and toes, when it gets squeezed between the 'knuckles' of the metatarsal heads...

You could have sent it to me, L.  I could use it in my gloves, these days!  Hope all recovers well.  I'm guessing you won't be riding on Dec. 4th from Darlo?

Yes. You lose the pain but there's a high chance of continued local numbness. Also has a fairly poor success rate, apparently a significant minority (8%?) grow back. I have it in the other foot too, but nowhere near as frequently/severely.
For me it's been debilitating enough to be worth the risks.
Apart from cyclists, it's also common for folks who do a lot of work up and down ladders. And wearers of high heels. All that localised pressure.
