Current home AV software...

What's good for PC these days?   

Has anyone tried Sophos Home?  Perhaps using Windows Defender as sole AV on their PC?

I've found Avast was getting too 'intrusive', upgrade pop-ups etc...

Windows Defender as sole AV appears to work fine for me (W10 64 non pro)
