Euro cycle route 2?
« on: 08 March, 2018, 05:27:51 pm »
I was just planning a ride and using cycle.travel to do it. My route crossed Sustrans route 1 near Chelmsford but a new addition to the route marking has peaked my curiosity. A new symbol has appeared which is a European flag with the number 2 in the centre of the stars. Does it indicate European Cycle Route 2?

It is indeed. If you'd turned left (assuming you crossed it from the south) you'd have ended up in Galway and if you turned right, you'd have ended up in Moscow!

EuroVelo 2 - Capitals Route

Edit: Where did you see the sign? I must check it out....
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Go to
http://cycle.travel/map
find Chelmsford
You'll see the blue flag either side of Chelmsford on NCN 1.

I shall keep an eye out. I ride the bit west of Writtle pretty much every day! Not noticed any new signs... but not been looking
