Sounds good to me. I reckon you should plan a bike ride.

That's my last Monday morning completed in my 40 year career.

That's also my last Monday morning completed in my 40 year career.
Then......
Estate agent came round today, to take photos for the sale of our house.
Then......
We're trying to complete on a rental flat near Brighton, as  bit of income.

Then....fingers crossed, we can head into Scandinavia and Europe in the Motorhome for a year so, or until we get bored anyway.

If we find a property on our travels we will have the money in the bank from our house sale.  That's something we'll think about at a later date.  Right now though it's very busy and very exciting.

Life taught us not to plan too far ahead.  Redundancy next.

Thanks guys.

You're braver than us Lee. We've decided that one major life change is enough to cope with, and although we keep talking about selling up and moving to Scotland, or buying a narrowboat, we're sitting in the situation first to see how we get over the shock of me not working. Good luck on your travels.

The above is good advice (I knew someone who took early retirement, moved to a dream house 50 miles away and promptly had a nervous breakdown, from which he never really recovered).  Only you know how resilient you are, though.

I didn't find the first Monday of my retirement that unusual.  I mean, we've all had days off, haven't we? It wasn't until the second week that it really sank in.

Interesting point.

I've been wondering when it will sink in.  I've had many 3 weeks holidays.  Even on 3 week holidays the thought of work is present at the back of your mind.  The nagging thought that you need to make sure you don't waste one minute of your holiday.

I tend to think it will take me longer than 3 weeks for it to finally sink in.  I haven't had a gap in employment for 40 years after all.  I must be "institutionalised" somewhat.

I'm actually on planed holiday withDr Beardy (Mrs) for the next two weeks, so as Lee says, it’s not likely to seem strange to start with. However, at Dr Beardy’s (Mrs) insistence we hadn’t booked anything until a couple,of weeks ago, so will be at home over the bank holiday weekend with Master Beardy and his partner. We have booked three nights in Liverpool though.  ???

This morning I said, "Feck it!" to a morning of work and joined the "Retirees Ride" from our LBS.  It's a good advert for early retirement (21 riders, ex-Army, ex-Police, self-employed who did well for themselves, and an assortment of others).

It was certainly a pretty fast paced 25 miles for a bunch of "pensioners".

You could pop into Lancaster House & say Hi! (Best not to as I’ll be on my bike in Holland for the next 2 weeks)

Humph. The other day I suddenly thought "VAT declaration due tomorrow". After doing the damned things every month for 30 years, a mere 3 years of retirement still hasn't quelled the reflex. The surge of adrenalin has gone, though.
