Video downsizing
« on: 14 September, 2018, 09:04:09 pm »
I recorded a 3m50s video (.MOV) on my camera; comes in at 789MB.  This appears to be rather large, especially if I wish to share it with anyone.

Any suggestions on how to decrease the file size?  Yes, I know I will sacrifice some quality in the process.

On a related note, does anyone know if there is a file size limit for uploading to flickr?  I tried uploading the video referenced above and it kept timing out.

Try Handbrake. Play around with the presets to get the file size/quality you want.

IME, Vimeo is much better for sharing large videos, saves arsing around with re-sizing.

If you DO want to resize, open source VLC is one of the easiest, and a useful player, too, with more features than you can shake a stick at. https://videoconverter.wondershare.com/compress/make-vlc-resize-video.html explains how
