Hello, this is my first post here. I can't quite believe this place. It must be where cyclists go when they try other forums and find everyone is into fast and/or far on two wheels with a helmet. No one rides anything a bit different and if you don't wear a helmet and attempt to venture the opinion that there may be evidence indicating that is a reasonable decision, you will be vilified! Here I read that some people enjoy cycling fast and/or far. No doubt some choose to wear a helmet, but some like to ride differently, even on 3 wheels and, shock, horror, is that a sensible, friendly chat about helmets I see?!!! In any event, folk here seem so friendly and open to differences
So, I'm pleased to find you. I finally learned to ride on two wheels last year at he age of 51. Very pleased of course, but I have harboured what seemed like a dirty little secret for years. A wish to have an adult tricycle. I rode one about 6 years ago on holiday in Florida. I hired it for 5 days. It was single speed, riding up hill nearly killed me, but I couldn't get the grin off my face, I loved it so much. I thought I couldn't get one because I 'should' ride a bicycle like a proper grown-up. Then I came across the Tricycle Association. I couldn't believe what I was seeing
I now have a Pashley Picador on order. I know it's no athlete, but neither am I. I just want to tootle around the local park, and cycle tracks locally, including those near the beach and Kielder Water etc. My bicycle is also an old fashioned Pashley. Albeit it has 5 gears to the Picadirs 3!
