Airports. Or former names of current airports I think.  Ringway is now Manchester, Roissy is CDG I think, no idea about Rhoose.

While folk may talk of Manchester Airport and Cardiff airport, the French - other than in the media - usually call CdG airport Roissy.  Funny that.

Isn't 'Castle Donnington' a much more helpful name than East Midlands?

Heathrow, Gatwick, Finningley and Luton are places. Robin Hood, Charles de Gaulle and John Lennon are not.

I'd have said airports beginning with R.

John Lennon airport is in Speke, which is the origin of my favourite Liverpool joke.

You'll have to tell it now.

In the meantime what aviation record does a Hawker Hurricane flying out of speke in 1941 still hold?

We discovered tonight the de-merits of winning our pub quiz.

Since we began to take part in the quiz last February our worst position is 3rd. The prize is 8 pints of bitter and I don't think I've paid for any since September last year. The quizmaster decreed that anyone winning 2 weeks in a row would incur a 5 point handicap. Tonight we had a 20 point handicap and came in 4th.

At least next week we can start again with a level contest.

I've only ever entered one pub quiz, misheard the obscure last round rules and went from first to fourth.  Bugger.

At least the prize for winning yours is not to set the questions next time around, as was the case with my parents on the expat compound in Saudi - lots of competition for 2nd place.
