58? He's looked 58 since about 1980.

RIP Gary.

Wow, what a shock. Out of the "British" hard rock/blues players he was the one I was really starting to like.

Met him once in the early 80s. Nice guy who belied the 'hard man' image.

Great guitar player, didn't compromise or sell out, just kept putting out music he liked. Prolific and very talented.

Bit of a sustain meister.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I saw him at the Marquee in about 1980. I say, "saw" but I didn't actually watch much. I stayed in the bar cos it was ear blisteringly loud.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

Saw him twice at the Apollo in Manchester during the 80's. He was playing with Ian Paice on drums, Don Airey on keyboards and Neil Murray on bass. That was a band worth seeing.

For a sense-of-humour boost, time for the http://www.youtube.com/v/-KR7txrLvuY&rel=1 sketch, methinks.

A superb guitarist with a very identifiable sound. His move back to the blues dragged me with him in the early 90's and got me listening to John Lee Hooker, BB King and proper old school blues. I wonder if Peter Green will, be getting his guitar back now ?

Saw him at Hammersmith in 83 or 84. Great gig but you needed Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses when he was joined on stage for a few numbers by Jimmy Nail.
