Rambling on t'moors
« on: 14 September, 2008, 10:35:04 pm »
Whenever I need to recharge my soul, I go for an aimless ramble on the moors.  This time I took a wrong turning and ended up at Meldon Quarry.  The local ravens took the mick out of my navigation, little buggers.  Away from the grim working stuff, there are lovely old overgrown quarries like this:

Weirdly, in this one, someone had laid out a classical labyrinth!

After walking the labyrinth and getting a sunbeam as a prize (yay!) I set off to the dam and yes, it's still there and still looks like an Empire blockhouse from Star Wars...

Just in case you didn't think it was Autumn yet, here's some delicious rowan berries!

It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I miss the moors, but a four hour drive each way (at least!) is more than a quick ramble.  London is hopeless for decent big open deserted moreland. :-\
Actually, it is rocket science.

Mmm, rowan berries. Though in fact I've never eaten them as are, but only coated in chocolate  :P
