Set off at 8am and heading ENE.

Up to Goole perchance?

Southerlies today so it would make sense to me.

Direct-ish route home from where he is now is around 60 miles.

The Android app is showing he's done 112 miles (at 18:35) - so the direct route home would be disappointing.
He's currently near Saffron Walden having skirted north of Norwich, and started near/at Hemsby on the Norfolk coast
Go go Steve

Turned North before Royston (wise to avoid that hill) and heading towards the flatlands where I grew up cycling...

Wonder if Steve will get another ~75mls in, from Royston area?

Looks to have headed west along the A505. Not a nice road but it'll be gritted.

Another 6 hours on the road if he wants 205 miles.

Been stopped 40 minutes, I assume not at the side of the road where the tracker states but in the services just north. There's a hotel there so I hope all is OK and there are a few more miles for today.

There would be no point in him stopping there for the night as he's so close to home - but of course, he needs more miles...

Unless he was spent, which was my concern. But now moving again :)

How many Ivan-miles did it say at the end of last night as the Strava upload was just over 200 miles? I seem to remember it under reads (unless it gets confused by routing mishaps).

Aha, found it thanks to SoreTween's scripts: http://www.soretween.altervista.org/TeethGrinder/tg372.jpg

Looks like that one under-read as the Ivan-Science lost the start of the ride (Steve had started from home).

The current trace starts about 3 miles from where Steve stopped last night, so no huge gain there, but I still think it under-reads slightly (and over-reads when the routing messes up).

[EDIT] Hmm, there's a chunk between Royston and Baldock missing. Will just have to wait for the Strava upload to see what is happening.

Currently near Flitwick (which I /still/ associate with football hooligans being thrown off a train in the 1970s) I guess he's going down the A507 to get into MK via Woburn Sands?
Isn't the A507 a nasty road - busy & bendy?

The track points for earlier in the day become more granular later on which tends to cause an under read. I don't think Steve's track is as indirect today as yesterday so I think it'll be a shorter day.

Bendy and rolling, although should be quiet this time of night.

Looks like he ended on 185 miles or thereabouts.
Still not giving the impression that he is in control of his own destiny.
The weather starts a further forecasted downturn today (9th).

From Steve's Strava:  "Headwind and hassles that ate my riding time leave me with some catching up to do."

Wonder what happened; unfortunately re. the schedule, it's 20mls for the deficit.
