Thanks for clearing that up' after the read I discovered no mention of a push bike throughout the book.
I got the impression he may have cycled up north then done a little tour between coal shafts.

That would have been cool. I know of some Clarionettes who rode to Catalonia a couple of years back in remembrance of the International Brigades heroes, and remembering some who had ridden out to fight fascism, but Orwell didn't.
