One of the most recognised voices - and faces - of the 1960s.

Used to watch the "Tonight" program, Cliff Michelmore alongside Alan Whicker, Fyfe Robertson, and others. Can hardly believe today's equivalent is "The One Show", which I actively avoid.

Blimey, that was a good stint he had - I kind of assumed he was long dead.  RIP

Always used to get him and Robert - Ask the Family - Robinson mixed up which maybe where that came from

Aha, I think you mean "would that it were".  Robert Robinson knew a subjunctive when he saw one.

All round good egg by the looks of it. Halton apprentice to BBC "Holiday" programme.
We seem to be losing those distinctive BBC voices and not replacing them with new ones.

Good old Cliff, lovely bloke.  We never missed "Tonight" when I was a nipper.  Alan Wicker, Fyfe Robertson, Robin Hall & Jamie McGregor...

And the TV Centre is being converted into flats. Sic transit...

I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight
