I'll join the peleton at the bottom of TMNH tonight!  I'll be there from 8pm

I'll see you guys at Spa RBT - I have a route - its a bit like the Woolpack one but goes on to 3 Elms through the park etc... Obv no TMNH for me, turns right halfway up as usual :)

Hello, I appreciate that a significant portion of our number are still across the North Sea but for those of us thinking of venturing out tomorrow evening a gentle reminder that the target pub is The Chequers at Goldhanger.  To the Witham Peloton I offer THIS JEWEL of a route.

The very Eastern Mid-Essex splinter group will be at Cafe Harwich in Hoek for those who want to join us.  We will be ferry  assisted on the way home though.

The Torpedo is your other option.  You can sit outside and look at your ferry to make sure it doesn't leave without you.

I've got a very early start on Thursday, so I'll be giving the 55km to Goldhanger a miss.

Unless a meeting gets dropped on me at the last minute, my plan is to ride a 200km before lunchtime, just as a banker to ensure I get up to 100 points this year. Also means I can visit a bike shop that I've been wanting to get to.

Which bike shop?

I should be riding tomorrow, all being well. About 25 miles each way to Goldhanger via Braintree, Silver End, Rivenhall, Little Totham etc ...

Hmmm, the wind. If it’s still blowing dogs off chains I won’t be going out this evening. It’s forecast to calm down but lets see.  Who is potentially turning out?

Weather forecast for Witham courtesy of Metcheck:
About now 24mph breeze, gusting to 38mph
For 7pm at 15mph gusting to 26mph

looks like I'll have a lively ride home, today's route will take in the climb over North Hill to benefit from the shelter provided by hedges.
The ride along Terling Hall lane and Main Road (Boreham to Hatfield Peveral) is very open (I ride that route on the way in).

I've decided I'm not riding this evening.  New rule: if a storm has a name I'm staying at home

Hayley from my spinning class is still keen and can make next Wednesday so please can we try for The Chequers, Goldhanger again or at least somewhere with an easy ride back to Tollesbury?

Late change of venue: we have left Cafe Harwich and have moved to Ocean City.

I'm happy for the Chequers next week, as I'll be at a conference. Then hopefully the week after will be less 'extreme east'  :)

jibers old lad, please can we have a bit more FORWARD PLANNING as the Google calendar is looking a bit bare. I’m happy to do the planning bit and leave you to fill in the calendar if you’re short on time.

We've never done that other pub up the road from Chequers yet?

I've updated next week's pub. I'll fire up the pseudo random compass based pub location generator later this week and populate the calendar with locations.

That other pub is the Cricketers, opposite the old village school and the alpacas. I have not tried it, could always proceed to the Chequers if it turns out to be unworthy of our custom.
