My Brompton hasn't seen any action for quite a while. Maybe entering this race will provide the impetus I need to get it out of the shed, serviced and ready to rock n roll!

We can have a team of up to five.  I nominate Roger as team captain, on account of how he's done it before and can be guaranteed to have the best bike.

I heard that some Japanese rider last year had carbon trispokes.

Hmmm, come to think of it, I suspect I'd be out of my league...  ;D

Blenheim is just round the corner from my in-laws.  Were it not so far, and the fact that I think I'd be chocking on your dust, I'd be up for it.

I've been meaning (and failing) to get to this event for the last couple of years. So you can definitely count me in. I like a bit of a race.  :demon:

Yeah, OK.  It might be a 4-speed by then  :demon:

Right...one of us needs to coordinate this.  We need real names and £24 each.

Is the team name "Yet Another Cycling Forum", "YACF" or "yacf.co.uk"?  IIRC there is an extra charge for team names containing a URL.

I can wear my Sturmey-Archer tie  ;D

I've already entered

I could change my entry to be part of a team for a little consideration :)

Not that I'll add much to the result :(

But if all the places in the team are taken I'll beat all of ye and that'll learn ya ;D

yacf.co.uk for the team name sounds good to me. But no reason why there can't be more than one team if enough people are interested, right?

I probably should get the rear hinge on the Brommie sorted before then. And give the poor thing a bit of general TLC. Not sure it's entirely safe to race on in its current state.

I'll be keeping it as single-speed though. I don't know the route of the race but I doubt the hill could be any worse than the one between my house and the station, and I can manage that on my Brommie's current gearing. With a bag on the front too. But I will have to practise to get a little quicker at going upwards...

Not that I anticipate challenging for honours in the race - I'll be very happy if I can clock an "average" time (31.27 last year, according to the website).

They don't really look at the bikes, so you could probably sneak through a Merc with a Brompton sticker, but that's about all you'd get away with.  There are no limits on modifications, but the bikes have to start folded so dropped handlebars are probably out  :)

So I'm not really going to get away with this . . .

Am I?

If my company introduces 'Bike2Work' in time I think I'll have a Brommie

Definitely worth it if the weather is good. If you're really early can see some racing. Later on you can cycle round the grounds, watch and play bike polo, admire vintage bikes and trikes.
