Just snaps today. We went to Montrose Air Station. They have a fully working Link trainer (this is a valves and bellows driven bit of electromechanical wzardry from the 1950's that somehow is getting the electrons to keep going in the right way) An older lady who was there happened to mention that she had never flown a plane and would love to have a go, so they found the person who can, and she got her first ever flying lesson in a trainer.
Just before she got in she handed her camera over to get some video, so I swapped with my dad (who took the pic below, and hopefully she has a video with some usable bits of her really enjoying herself.

Another sheepish weekend.  A re-creation, for Kendal Wool Gathering, of a 1953 photo by Joseph Hardman, Kendal Rush Hour, taken when sheep were regularly driven through Kendal (hence the name of the road, Beast Banks):

Took a walk (bushwhack) up the railway path today with my folks who are up visiting. It was quite a slow amble as the path was somewhat overgrown.

Mum found it hard going so, as planned, stopped to draw a picture.

Nice middle aged car with an interesting provenance.  Seen at Maxey, near Peterborough, Classic Car Show.

Memento mori -

We went pictish stone hunting yesterday. One of the stoping points was Eassie where there are some late C17/early C18 grave markers. In typical Scots style for the period they are marked with various moment moro.

The crossed bones, the skull and the hourglass are recognisable, but what is the other symbol?

On another stone (or maybe the other end of the same one:

An angel on a scroll, and tools of the deceased's trade. Presumably a tailor with a pair of shears and an iron. And two discs.

More skulls and a faint inscription:

And one of the many alleged graves of Guinivere (or Queen Varda)

Have I been out today? Hell, yeah.  Love the Oly M4/3 to bits.Working with the 35mm (equiv) 2.8, I think it is as "street" as an old Leica. Without quite the same quality, OK, but I'm really pleased with the results out the camera (noting always that it has to be processed at least in camera to remove the shocking barrelling - be intersting to see what can be done with the RAW when I get home)

Yesterday's updates on the gallery including a street magician. This guy has been performing in the same place for 36 years. He has a dog-eared cutting from the Daily Telegraph featuring him that he will show you, and will tell you with substantial pride about the time he met Paul Daniels.

Practising yesterday with back button focussing, improved my success rate significantly.
