Do all 10 speed cassettes require a spacer, It's a Shimano 105 that i'm planning to fit.

AFAIK,
all most Shimano 10-spd cassettes come with a spacer, which shims it up to the same width as a 9-spd, and is required on Shimano 9/10 spd hubs.
There are some '10 speed' hubs which don't require the spacer.

I have a tiagra 11-34 cassette, I put a spacer on as everyone said it needed it, but in reality, it had to be taken off to get the gears to shift properly.
So I think it may be a case of "Depends"

If you're freehub takes 11 speed (e.g. 105 5800) and you fit anything less you will need a spacer.
If your freehub takes 8/9/10 speed (e.g. 105 -> 5700) you will NOT need a spacer for 8 or 9 speed and you MAY need a 0.5mm spacer for 10 speed.
Reasons as follows - and NO I'm not getting the micrometer out -
8 speed & 9 speed cassettes are the same width/thickness/stack height or what have you.
10 speed cassettes are a teeny bit narrower. (Hence the 0.5mm spacer)
11 speed cassettes are '10 plus one'. (Approx 1.5mm give or take)
Therefore 11 speed cassettes won't fit 8/9/10 freehubs.
8/9/10 cassettes need a spacer on 11 speed freehubs.
Bottom line is if your cassette moves after the lockring is tight you should've fitted a spacer.

Shimano r500 wheel, shimano 10s cassette needs a spacer, SRAM 10s cassette does not.
Tension needs a bit of adjustment between the two for indexing. I think the difference is in the three cogs on the spider, the recess at the back seems deeper on shimano

SRAM machine the spider to include the shim. Because it's always needed so why bother to make it separate?

An exception being replacing the road 10 speed on an 11 speed freebub and deciding to remove the spacer in order to avoid only having 1 ring iof the lock ring thread actually threaded. I presume 10 speed mtb is different than road...
