^^Did they say something like "Thank you, sir", or maybe I am asking for too much?

I keep finding the wreckage of something similar in the gutters of Larrington Gardens Road, sometimes with a webbing pouch like unto that inhabited by my Topeak multitool.  I think the owner of one of the scooters is murdering the traffic wardens after they gave him a parking fine of £0.001 and then sent him Threatening Letters when he didn't pay.

and this little chap(ess)  I'm pretty sure its a female turtle, (length of tail, and claws on feet) She was crossing a concrete road to get to the canal, but couldn't get up the 6'' high curb. I found her on her back, trying to get upright, so I turned her ver, then 'snapped her' then lifted her up into the reeds, and she scurried off, followed by a splosh!. Surprised by her weight tho!

Last night on a multi modal trip to Lahndan (bike and train) I spotted this in my local (one horse) railway station platform shelter:

There were two others with it.  Very suspicious, so I went down the rabbit hole that is the British Transport Police "report a crime" web form but it wanted to know who the victim was so I got bored.  I nipped to the station this morning and they were still there. Home, phone BTP, queue, phone West Sussex Police, queue, yadda yadda, web forms etc then clicked on the Bike Register website. Boom. One of the bikes was reported stolen the same evening I saw them, from another larger station. Speak to a Nice Lady at Bike Register who wanted a frame number. Jump in the car, initially to get the number but have  a change of plan and put the bikes (after a spot of front wheel removal) into the car and drive to the police station.  When it eventually opened, at 10:00, they were pleased to take them off my hands, as at least one was reported stolen.
There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

Good work, Tim.  I hope the rightful owners will soon be reunited with their steeds and suitably grateful.

Of course when they check the bikes for fingerprints...

So far I've found:
  • 5 mobile phones (three I was able to return)
  • 2 stray dogs (photographs put on Twitter)
  • 1 very large pig (chased back the way it came to a farm which was deserted)
  • 1 HD drone (handed in to the police)
  • 1 pair of leg warmers (which I still use)
  • 1 rear light (cheap rubbish)
  • About £15
  • 2 people sleeping in the middle of the road/path
  • Several pairs of sunglasses
  • A handbag containing stationery, cosmetics, a USB drive and an empty purse.
The handbag I slung over my shoulders like a backpack and left in the nearest town to the relief of my mate who thought I looked like an idiot.

Heads or tails?

Looks like a £2 coin, but considering how bashed about it is, I wonder if it is counterfeit?

I wonder what the precise test for 'still acceptable tender' is; if you handed that in at the Bank of England, would they give you a new one in return?

I keep a couple of those purple things, folded just the same way, hidden behind my bus pass card, in case I lose my purse and wish to get home/somewhere.

I wonder if the original owner had similar strategies...

Dibs?

I left it where it was. Didn't want to be seen carrying something like that.

I wonder what the precise test for 'still acceptable tender' is ... ?

In practical terms, does it work in the self-checkouts at $UPERMARKET?

It's quantum, innit.  The wormholes formed inside washing machines during the spin cycle have to open out somewhere...

Either that or it's something to do with cycleman, who was last seen wearing one sock (to simplify foot-identification and cultivate an even sillier cyclist's tan).

This means cycleman has either developed a cult following or grown six more feet to discard socks from. I'm not sure which of these is the more worrying...

Probably wasn't cycleman, then.  He only usually travels fast with gravitational assistance, and there's hardly any gravity in East Angular.
