See ^^. I can confirm that the Berwyns were indeed white over this morning, first time this winter - wonder when will be the last time?), once the cloud had lifted. But they aren't now as far as I can see (but I'm looking into the sun.....)

The guy who lives next door but two to me reported seeing snow this morning. I looked outside and couldn't see any.

I mentioned this to Phyllis who then told me an amusing anecdote that perhaps ought to be in a "Child Utterances" thread but it relevant to this one.

Phyllis's (and my dad's) youngest sister, Glenys, was married to Arthur, a keen gardener. Every couple of years or so would see him sprinkling lime liberally over his turned sods. On once such occasion, next door's small child could be hear wailing "It's not fair! They've got snow next door but we haven't got any!"

My nephew from Australia has been in the UK since December 11th and aged 9,has never seen snow. He's been dreaming of a white Christmas. They fly out tonight.

Driving up towards Birmingham today, at around 7 am just north of Oxford on the M40, there was an intensive slushy-snow storm reducing visibility a lot, for about 5-10 minutes, before clearing away. There was a brief settling of white stuff on the hard shoulder. Then as the sun came up, it was all blue sky & sunshine.
