Any hot tips on bargain priced cycle snacks?
« on: 29 May, 2018, 03:52:54 pm »
Hi everyone, are there any leads on good VFM energy/snack bars for when you're out on a ride? Looking online most bars will average around 57-63p/100g, even when bought in packs.

I'm guessing paying for postage would drive up cost, but have you got any bright ideas?

Make your own  ;)

Sandwiches etc, rice cakes (Team Sky recipe is good, but you can leave out the dope)

Or....one of the hottest bike bars are the Veloforte paneforte bars. You can make your own.

Commercial energy bars are just very expensive confectionary

Aldi flapjacks - the individually wrapped ones which they sell by the till. Perfect for jersey pockets.

Potato farls for when you don't want sweet stuff.
Have a look at 'breakfast bars' on special offer at supermarkets.

Trail mix is good and very cheap. No additives. Make your own with your favourite fruit and nuts. Fill a stem bag with it.

I like 9 bars and nakd bars, normally buy them by the job-lot.  Also witworths compressed blocks of dates for cooking, cut them into 8 for a good hour or more of energy.

Nairn’s Oatcakes, some interesting flavour variations available to spruce up the taste and around £1 a box 👍.
