If last year's Beacon Audax is anything to go by, the weather will be dreadful... on the other hand, the year before it was lovely...

You're quite right, last year really was awful and possibly the worst weather I have experienced at a Beacon Audax.  It was torrential rain and strong winds. Only a quarter of entries started.  At least this year can only be better (he says with crossed fingers).

To be fair it was only the first 70km to Craven Arms that was truly horrific. It perked up a bit after that and the route itself was excellent.

I suppose that makes me the Captain Smith at the ship's wheel, standing to attention whilst I become immersed with water as the ship sinks into the icy depths.
