Ouch. Are you getting a nice piece of titanium to hold your bone together or is it being left to heal on its own?

I don't know you but GWS. Luckily you had the foresight and were able to take a pic of the vehicle. Does it show the registration?

Contact cycling solicitors asap.

Sorry to be a doom merchant but I predict plod fobbing you off which they have done already telling you that it has to be reported to plod in Luton - no! They will then fob you off if you don't have reg of vehicle even though the details of the company/trader are emblazoned on the side, you cannot id the driver. Be prepared for a seriously crap police experience. They were positively obstructive when I was knocked down and tried to get the driver's details and insurance from them. They refused citing the DPA. Bastards.

Anyway GWS. Take a trip to your GP. Your neck and arm may also be hurting as well.

Still at least your bike is ok. Get it checked out though.

Jeez.  Hope it all works out OK.  I know that bit of road - normally it's OK  but you got the bad luck fairy on your case. Hope everything mends and you are suitably compensated/

Campag or Shimano?

Glad it wasn't worse, but collarbones can be very uncomfortable, so you have my sympathies

I broke my collarbone playing Rugby 2 days before my birthday (11th, at a guess).  I dunno if medical science has changed in the intervening years, but all I got prescribed were rest, immobilisation of the affected arm, and an early birthday prezzie - a Lego Technic helicopter.

Assembling Lego with one arm was a challenge.

Sympathies and GWS msgs from here too.

Aw, naggers, sorry to hear about this.  Glad you're still with us, and bonus points for an elegant dismount in the circumstances.  Hope you get well soon and, given the evidence you have, you track down the perpetrators and get some justice too.

I haven't read all the comments, but i suspect that RJ&W have been mentioned...

RJ&W Russel, Jones and W? the CTCs tame injury lawyers who have a very good reputation in cyclist claims.

Russell Jones & Walker.  Very good solicitors, experienced in thses sort of cases, and the solicitors the CTC will put you in touch with if you are a member..

There are other solicitors available, of course, as AccessLegalGuy would be able to confirm, though I think he is a bit shy of using this forum to promote his firm, which is reasonable, so I think they should be mentioned.  Sadly, I can't remember the company name.

Ouch!  Sorry to read about this – I would echo suggestions of contacting RJ&W, currently pursuing a claim through them myself.

Hope you recover quickly.

CTC just took some details but didn't fill me with any confidence.
I even had to ask if they wanted the Van registration number and they were happy with A10 Kingsland Road, didn't want to record "junction with Englefield Rd"

Two more calls to Luton Police station and Met CAD result in more buck passing  >:(

How's the bike?

Not a scratch.

Although closer inspection later might reveal damaged bars, shifters, forks and cracked £400 front wheel  :-\

The A+E had to cut off my long loved US Postal jersey and the shoulder strap of my assos bibs  :(

When I broke my collar bone a couple of years ago ,we got a lift home ,I was sure it was broken Mrs ONB who used to be a radiograher confirmed the prognosis ,so I removed my favourite camgag top so as to prevent them cutting it off at the hospital and almost passed out in the process but it was worth it.  Heal fast and avoid a plate fitting if you can.

The nurse offered to try to get it off but I'd already spent an hour thinking how painful it would be and said, don't bother, just get the sissors.

(I do actually own two UPS 6th TdF win jerseys so it's not the end of the world)

Sorry to hear about this Naggers....

I too used to like the A10 Kingsland Road, which was part of my commute.  Always an 'interesting' road to cycle down.  ;)

I'd also suggest Russell, Jones & Walker.  Damn good attack dogs to have on your side.

Just seen this Naggers :o

GWS matey.

Re my colleagues in The Met and Beds Police- lean on The Met. The collision was on their ground and it is their responsibility to investigate. They may wish to ask colleagues in Beds Police to take a statement from you but, you are injured and may be struggling to get to a police station in Luton. Contact the Met again and stress this. Ask them to make a request of Beds to attend your home address.

PM if you want more advice or to get my number to talk it over.

Thanks everyone for the GWS's, the gentle virtual hugs and all the advice.

Luton fracture clinic today said 10% chance of needing a pin/plate.
Need another week of rest wearing the sling.
Signed off for six weeks. I might go mad

I just wanna go out for a ride  :(

I can't be bothered with getting annoyed on the phone again today.
Maybe tomorrow.
