I saw the trailer for Sarah Palin vs The Space Nazis last week, and was mildly disturbed that I hadn't heard of it from andygates first...

Is this actually going to make it to cinemas, or be straight to DVD?  Presciently, I was at a party on Saturday bemoaning the lack of decent men's titles in "book clubs"...specifically, because they didn't have enough Nazis and spaceships in them.

About the only book I can think of that's got the Nazis anywhere near space was Philip K. Dick's "The Man In The High Castle" - IIRC, it's mentioned in the book that the Germans were beginning to colonise the Moon, but it wasn't like it was a central part of the plot...

In fact, there's such a dearth of Space Nazis that even with the imminent coming of Iron Sky, there still isn't a fleshed out Space Nazis page on TV Tropes!

Sounds a bit derivative to me1... ;) And the Bismark's proportions are all wrong, the bridge/conning tower section is too far forwards. If anything HMS Rodney would work better as an ironclad/spaceship cut'n'shut job.2

1 As, I guess, you knew. And there's already been a live-action/shedloads-of-CGI remake of the original anime.  :o

Very much looking forward to this. The Finnish team behind it produced Star Trek spoofs, the Star Wreck series, culminating in the full-length 'Star Wreck: In The Pirkinning' (it took them seven years, the render farm was three PCs in a kitchen!), available on DVD and as a torrent. I loved that, so Iron Sky should be right up my street. And Udo Kier's in it too :)
Oh yes, they have cinema releases scheduled: UK April 20 (funny coincidence, that was Hitler's birthday....!).
The Guardian gave it a rather sniffy review, I agree with one of the comments: "I refuse to believe you can make a bad film about Nazis from the moon. I'm sorry; it's just not possible."

I've been waiting to see this released for about a year since I first heard of it. It looks like it'll be done in the style of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

No, Wascally's Bismark reference is a Teutonic riff on a Japanese anime franchise, based on the premise that the Japanese WW2 super-battleship Yamato is raised from the depths of the Pacific, welded to a futuristic propulsion system that can be used, in extremis, as a weapon and festooned with frikkin' lasers.

How about Sven Hassel's 'The Bloody Road to Death'? A book which , as a forumite* has previously pointed out, disproves the maxim "You can't judge a book by its cover".
