Will someone will forego their traditional Mustang and instead hire a bicycle for their annual trip to Leftpondia?

Interesting. The Adventure Cycling Association (like the CTC / CUK) has had a Route 66
ROUTE
for a while now.
THIS PAGE
explains that over time ACA routes may well be merged into USBRS routes.

M'colleague Pav Bryan (who will be known to Kent time-trialling types) will shortly be attempting to set a world record for cycling the length of Route 66.
